The Heritage Committee in the Islamic World, affiliated with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), has approved the inclusion of Dendera Temple Complex and the historic houses of Rosetta on the Islamic World Heritage List.
With this addition, the total number of Egyptian sites on the final Islamic World Heritage List has reached six. These include Red Monastery, Historic Cairo, Baron Empain Palace, Shali Fortress, and now Dendera Temple and Rosetta’s historic houses.
Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, stated that the listing of these sites comes as part of the ministry’s strategy to highlight priority archaeological assets and work toward registering them on international heritage lists. This effort helps promote them more widely and enhances their appeal as tourist destinations.
